To provide proactive PA support to Economic Directors, and shared administrative support to the wider Economics team within the Competition Group.

What you will be doing

  • Extensive and proactive management of complex schedules and diaries of 2-3 Economic Directors, assessing priorities to enable best use of time.
  • Close daily interaction with the Directors, proactively flagging and escalating incoming issues and updates, and responding to changing requests flexibly and efficiently.
  • Organise sometimes complex itineraries, producing clear and concise schedules for travel and accommodation, arrangements for meetings, conferences and external engagements
  • Effective and proactive management of the Directors’ email inboxes.
  • Produce written documents, such as letters, reports and emails, giving a clear, logical presentation, with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Act as an effective interface between Directors, their respective teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Co-ordination and booking of training requests for the Economics Team, including monitoring budgets for director sign-off.
  • Ensure managers’ timesheets and expenses are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Flexibility to take on ad hoc projects/work
  • Provide PA support to other Directors in times of absence
  • Actively demonstrate Ofcom's values of excellence, agility, empowerment and collaboration.

Administrative support to the wider Economics Team


Work closely with another Economic PA in:

  • Supporting weekly senior resourcing meetings, producing agendas, papers and minutes.
  • Supporting the economist recruitment process
  • Co-ordinating new starters induction, and the leavers process.
  • Booking travel and accommodation
  • Organising team events, such as away days and large team meetings
  • Updating Group-wide organograms
  • Once trained, carry out health and safety posture assessments for colleagues

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Experience of providing high level support at Director level, including diary management, document preparation and minute taking.
  • Excellent prioritisation and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels – external and internal.
  • Committed to high quality, rapid and timely completion of work
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Proactive in offering or seeking assistance when workloads fluctuate
  • Source of advice and guidance to other administrators, sharing expertise and knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other software packages used in Ofcom e.g. Sharepoint
  • Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom's values of excellence, agility, empowerment and collaboration
